Effective Communication in Healthcare CH

This course has been designed to help healthcare providers in all disciplines enhance communication with their patients as well as other healthcare professionals. Your interactions with patients and colleagues are opportunities to develop trust and exert a positive influence. This course will provide you with communication skills and strategies to have thoughtful, empathic, and effective conversations.

Topics include boundary setting, non-verbal communication, giving effective feedback, infusing empathy into written communication, and dealing with a variety of challenging communication scenarios. Multiple demonstrations will be given using standardized patients.

Mitigation of Relevant Financial Relationships

The University of Texas at Tyler School of Nursing adheres to the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission's Standards for Integrity and Independence in Nursing Continuing Professional Education. Any individuals in a position to control the content of a CE activity, including faculty, planners, reviewers or others are required to disclose all relevant financial relationships with ineligible entities (commercial interests). All relevant conflicts of interest have been mitigated prior to the commencement of the activity.
